Super Dad Shirt
Help your child show Dad how super he is by making this homemade superhero shirt. Just print off our template and use it to paint a Superman style “D” for Dad! Stencils are an easy, impressive craft that can be used over and over again. Once your child gets the hang of it, he might even want to experiment with different letters and shapes to make his own stencils.

What You Need:
- This template
- Freezer paper
- Pencil
- X-acto knife
- Fabric paint
- Paint brush
- Plain shirt
- Iron
- Cardboard
What You Do:
- Help your child print out the template, and then place a sheet of freezer paper on top of it.
- Have your child trace the entire template on the paper, including the Xs.
- Lay a piece of cardboard on the table to protect the surface, and then help your child use the X-acto knife to carve out the negative space in the design. These are the sections marked with X. Place them aside, to use for later.
- Now cut out the main design, leaving the outline.
- Show your child how to iron the shirt to remove any wrinkles, and then place the freezer paper in the center of the chest area. Iron it into place.
- Next, place the interior pieces you cut out earlier onto the shirt, and iron those into place.
- it is wrinkle free. Center the cut out in the freezer paper on the t-shirt. Iron it into place. Now, working with one at a time, iron the interior cut outs into place.
- Slip come newspaper or cardboard underneath the shirt to keep the paint from bleeding through.
- Have your child carefully dab paint onto the stencil, to create the design. It may take several coats to get the paint dark enough, depending on the color of the shirt.
- While the paint is still wet, peel away the stencil.
- Check the instructions on the fabric paint. If it needs to be heat set, do so now.
- Let the paint dry completely before presenting it to Super Dad!
